Call for Presentations
Information+ 2027 invites submissions for presentations that explore critical insights, provocations, theories, practices, and experiences in information design, data visualization, and their applications. We welcome contributions from design practitioners, professionals, academics, and artists across the humanities, sciences, and other interdisciplinary fields.
We invite honest, grounded reflections on how our field is evolving and the new challenges it faces. We are interested in emerging possibilities, legitimate concerns and critiques, as well as in the uncertainties, contradictions, and unresolved questions that arise in everyday design practice.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is one particularly timely lens through which to reconsider these questions: its growing entanglement with design raises ethical, political, cultural, and practical issues that deserve critical attention. Contributions engaging with AI are especially welcome, but are not required.
We actively seek diverse perspectives, contributions from underrepresented voices, and approaches that challenge established practices and assumptions, fostering exchanges across different domains and sensibilities.
Presentations may include provocations, reflections, challenges, experiments, and works in progress, aiming to drive meaningful cross-disciplinary exchanges around (but not limited to) the following themes: small data, counter-data, feminist and queer data, slow data, missing data, synthetic data, and visual data; hyper-local, analog, embodied, physical, and multisensory data; and information design practices across domains such as public and civic life, culture and archives, science and the humanities, health, cities, and the environment.
Presentation Format
Accepted submissions will be presented in person at the conference in a single-track format, organized into thematic sessions. Presentations should be 10 minutes, followed by open discussions.
Selection process
Submissions follow a two-stage process: an initial abstract submission, followed by a full proposal for those invited to proceed.
Stage 1: Abstract Submission
The abstract is an expression of interest, intended to give us a clear understanding of what you would like to present. At this stage, we ask for a title and a short abstract (max. 150 words) outlining the topic, main ideas, and intended focus of your presentation.
Abstracts will undergo an initial screening by the organizing team to check their completeness, clarity, and relevance to Information+. This is not a peer-review stage. Abstracts will be screened on a rolling basis throughout the submission period, and authors will be notified as soon as their abstract has been reviewed.
Authors whose abstracts pass the initial screening will be invited to submit their full proposal immediately, without having to wait for the abstract submission deadline. Please check your spam or junk folder in case our reply is filtered.
Stage 2: Full Proposal Submission
The full proposal is the basis for the actual peer-review process.
The proposal should be submitted as a PDF and include up to 3,000 characters of text, together with relevant visual materials, examples, or sketches that help reviewers understand what the audience can expect from the presentation.
The proposal should clearly communicate:
- What you want to present: the topic, main ideas, and content of your presentation.
- Where your contribution comes from: a project, research, practice, or experience that informs your perspective.
- Why it matters: the relevance of your contribution and why it would be interesting or valuable to the Information+ audience.
- How you intend to present it: the approach, format, and materials you plan to use in your 10-minute presentation.
Full proposals will undergo a single-blind peer review by members of our international Program Committee. The final selection will be made by the Program Chairs based on the reviewers’ evaluations.

Post-Conference Publication
The conference will be accompanied by a special issue of Diseña (August 2028). Conference participants are also invited to submit their work to the special issue; please note that presenting at Information+ does not guarantee acceptance.
Published by the School of Design at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Diseña is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed journal indexed in Scopus (Q2) and DOAJ, focusing on critical perspectives, methodologies, and practices in design research.
